About the CCT Training Retreat/Workshop:

Join the Contextual-Conceptual Therapy (CCT) Team, and a small group of fellow clinicians, in this intimate setting in old Barcelona to study, experience, and understand this innovative, clinically-proven, approach to helping the suicidal patient understand the phenomenon of suicide and their own internal process to offer them a new pathway out of suicide.

In this relaxing and inspiring learning environment, enjoy the company of and conversations with an intimate gathering of like-minded international colleagues and fellow clinicians dedicated to suicide prevention.

CCT was developed by Fredric Matteson over the past 22 years through therapeutic dialogue with over 15,000 suicidal patients in a clinical setting. By using maps, models, and metaphors, and other experiential methods, CCT offers suicidal patients a new contextual perspective to bypass the entrenched internal logic that binds them. Learn the forms of indirect communication needed to circumvent the fierce intelligence and resistance which sustains this psychological and emotional trap.

We will be showing how conceptualizing the suicidal patient's unique perspective and metaphoric language, allows the clinician to communicate with them inside of the patient's own experience to bridge that gap of resistance and therefore increase the patient's opportunity to effect positive self-growth and transformation.

•8:30 - Meet at a Local Café for a Light Healthy Breakfast (optional)
•9:30-12:30 CCT Training/ Experiential Workshop
•12:30-2:00 Free Time - (get lunch at one of the many amazing local restaurants and tapas bars; walk around and explore the “Old City” and its charming neighborhoods, scenic parks, historic museums, diverse shops, open air markets, cafes, etc.)
•2:00-5:00 CCT Training/ Experiential Workshop
•5 - 7:30pm Free Time - Visit the Famed Historic Picasso Museum; Tour the Gaudi Museum; Treat yourself at the nearby Chocolate Factory; Watch the sun set over the Mediterranean; Explore the medieval architecture of Old Barcelona. (Optional)
•7:30-9:00pm - Relax and Enjoy the Luxurious & Soothing Thermal Baths at the Spa (Included in Retreat/Add-On Package)
•9:00pm - Free Time or Meet up for Dinner with Retreat Attendees at a Local Restaurant/Tapas Bar

The Cuisine:

When visiting Barcelona, you are in for a treat - Barcelona is home to a bountiful selection of restaurants featuring local and international cuisines that have delighted both renowned food critics and foodies.

At the Gourmet Luncheon Q&A & Closing Group Dinner Q&A you will enjoy two of Barcelona's best hidden restaurants - an afternoon in a charming and historic Catalan restaurant capturing the traditional local flavor unique to the colorful region of Catalonia, of which Barcelonia is a part. We will also experience an evening in an authentic, family-run Italian restaurant serving a menu and wine traditional to the southern Italian region of Apulia. The friendly and charismatic owner knows his menu well and is happy to talk with you about the delights of these regional and delicious recipes.

The artisan cheese & wine tasting will be at Barcelona's famed Formatgeria La Seu in the charming cobble stone neighborhood of Barrio Gothic. La Seu is unique in specializing solely in Spanish cheeses from small artisan producers. It is presided over by Spanish artisan-cheese specialist and Scottish expat Katherine McLaughlin. Her shop is world renowned and has recently been featured in Conde Nast Magazine.

Accommodations:

• We suggest you choose a hotel, guest house or pension in the Borne (el Born) neighborhood.
•The retreat activities are all based in the historic and hip El Borne (Born) and Barrio Gothic districts in the picturesque Ciutat Vella (Old City), and all activities are within walking distance of each other.
• Attendees are encouraged to book their own accommodations.
